Cork Bark Shapes

Cork Bark - Flat

A flat piece of cork bark, the easiest to describe! Usually coming from a large part of the tree, meaning there is little to no bow in the shape of the bark, excellent for mounting plants or using as backing in terrariums/enclosures.

Cork Bark - Full Log

A full log is used to describe a piece where the circumference of the log is whole, either for the most part of the piece, in the middle or at one end. Complete logs can be found where the whole branch of the tree was able to be removed in one piece allowing the bark to remain whole. Always check the diameter of the log to ensure its big enough to be able to get your critter out if need be.

Cork Bark - Chips

Sometimes there is very tiny bits of cork left over at the end. These pieces can be used as an additive in orchid mixes to create a free draining and chunky substrate. This is measured and sold by weight.

Cork Bark - Half Log

The half logs generally come from a branch or smaller part of the tree. A half log has no enclosed section along the length, it is a great piece to use as a reptile/animal hide as you can easily access your creature if need be, and no risk of your creature become stuck.

Generally the diameter is half or more than half of the circumference.

Cork Bark - Bowed Piece

A bowed piece is not quite a flat piece of bark and not quite a half log, falling somewhere in the middle. Where the diameter is less than half of the circumferanc. These pieces are generally the most random, sometimes with holes, notches or odd lumps. Great for a creative project!

Colours & Lighting

All cork is photographed in the shade, and stays true to the natural colour of the bark. Every effort is made to ensure the images are as accurate as possible, and a true representation of the actual piece. If you are unsure about the colour please contact us.
